Jim Morrison’s arrests
1963 – Tallahassee FL
Jim Morrison was arrested on September 28, 1963 in Tallahassee Florida, while attending Florida State University. He was charged with petty larceny for stealing a cop’s helmet and umbrella, disturbing the peace, resisting arrest and public drunkenness.
1966 – Inglewood CA
On January 23, 1966, Jim was arrested for assault and battery charges. As the story goes, Jim, Felix Venable, and Phil O’Leno all head out to the desert to find some Indians and eat peyote. On the way, Jim jumps out of the car and kisses a girl and hops back in the car. At some point, Jim and Phil get into an argument and Phil leaves. When Jim and Felix get back, Jim makes up this story that he killed Phil and buried him in a riverbed. Unfortunately for Jim, the story gets back to Phil’s father, who is an attorney finds the girl Jim kissed and has her file charges against Jim, in order to really find out what happened to his son, Phil. Jim is arrested and bailed out and Phil’s father finds out the truth, that Phil had simply went on to Arizona after his fight with Jim.
1967 – New Haven CT
On December 10, 1967, Jim was arrested on stage during a concert at New Haven, CT. While backstage with a girl, a police officer, not realizing it was Jim, told the couple to leave. Jim resisted and was maced by the cop. During the performance, Jim began to recount the story about “the little blue man, in the little blue cap”. The police finally had enough, stopped the concert and arrested Morrison.

1968 – Las Vegas NV
Jim Morrison was arrested on January 29, 1968 at the Pussycat a’ Go Go in Las Vegas for public drunkenness, vagrancy, and failure to possess sufficient identification. Apparently, Morrison was smoking an imaginary joint, taunting the security guard at the Pussycat a’ Go Go who proceeds to start beating them with his billy club. Blood is running down Jim’s face, the cops are called, and Morrison and his friend, author Robert Gover are arrested.
1969 – Miami FL
On March 1, 1969, The Doors played the Dinner Key Auditorium in Miami Florida. 4 days later, on March 5, the Dade County sheriff’s office issued a warrant for Jim Morrison’s arrest. Felony charge of lewd and lascivious behavior and five misdemeanors; two counts of indecent exposure, two of public profanity and one of public drunkenness. On September 20, 1970 the jury found Jim Morrison guilty on the misdemeanor charges of indecent exposure and profanity.
